  • Published Financial IQ, a financial newsletter, for 10 years and Ask Mike, an email newsletter for non-financial executive managers, for 10 years

Running

  • Has run 25 marathons (3:07 PR), including 11 Boston Marathons, 10 times as a qualifier
  • Ran the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon on the 40th anniversary of his first race, the 1977 Marine Corps Marathon. Placed second in his age division. Below is a photo of the back of the shirt he wore during the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon.

  • Has run the Mount Washington Road Race 17 times, finishing 2nd in his age group in 2013 and 2014 and 3rd in 2019
  • In 2007 was the Xterra National Trail Running Champion in his age group
  • Earned "mountain goat" designation by completing the USATF New England Mountain running circuit in 2013 and 2014, placing 2nd in his age group, and in 2007, placing 3rd in his age group
  • Has run in 9 USA Mountain Running Championships, finishing 2nd in his age group at Mount Cranmore in 2013, 3rd in 2011 and 4th in 2007
  • Was on the team that won its age group at the BAA Half Marathon and was second in its age group at the New Bedford Half Marathon, both in 2004
  • Has run other major races, including the 5th Avenue Mile and Beach to Beacon
  • Has run with 4 running clubs: Baltimore Road Runners (MD, 1977 and 1978), Heartbreak Hill Striders (MA, 2002 to 2012), Upper Valley Running Club (NH, 2013 to present) and New England 65Plus Runners Club (MA, 2015 to present)
